2024 marks a significant year for Stairway Joinery as we celebrate 40 years in business. This felt like a big achievement, and we didn't want it to go unnoticed. So, to mark the occasion, we gathered our hard-working employees, fantastic customers and six original founders to toast our past and welcome our future.
The origin of our business started in 1983 when our six founders noticed a gap in the market to offer bespoke made-to-measure, high-quality staircases.
With their joinery competitors producing a spectrum of products that included doors and windows, their specialism differentiated the business so that it stood out.
In 1984, Stairway Joinery started trading, with an emphasis on tailor-made products that gave the customer exactly what they were after.
40 years of success is something worth celebrating, so we held a party one Saturday evening in February to mark our achievements.
With the current founding partners, Nick, Jamie and Mark, the six founders, Barry, the two Brians, Clive, Glen and Malcolm and past and present staff in attendance, the evening was truly a celebration of the business.
We are incredibly proud to be offering the same service today.
At the heart of everything we do is the customer's vision, a value that has been carried through generations to maintain the core of Stairway Joinery. While we have expanded our services, adding the likes of glass balustrading and wooden stairgates, each product offering has been added out of a need to provide customers with choice and a say in what they are adding to their homes.
40 years on, we have still returned to the original idea that the six founders based the business on, and we will continue to keep this at the centre of our manufacturing, installations and customer service for years to come.
As a family-run business that works in the local area, it is important that we give back to the community that has continued to support us over the last 40 years. We were thrilled to recently become charity partners with Dorset Children's Foundation (DCF).
We took the opportunity at our celebrations to raise some money for the charity that is so close to our hearts and put on a raffle.
Companies and individuals in the area were incredibly generous, gifting a variety of items for the raffle, including hampers, spirits and wine as well as a signed AFC Bournemouth Football Club shirt.
Throughout the evening, and through the kind donations of those attending, we raised an astounding £1,500. We are incredibly proud that 100% of the money raised went straight to the DCF, which will be used to improve and enrich the lives of so many children and their families in need around the county.
